This Strat started it’s life with a Squire Bullet Strat body, a Fender Robert Cray neck, and a set of Tex Mex pickups. I’ve since replaced the body with a nicely relic’d Classic Vibe body, a Mexican Big Block Tremolo assembly. I’ve tried owning Strats two times before, and never really bonded with them. But this time was different. I figured out what I like in a Strat from a playability perspective - 7.25” or 9.5” rosewood neck is key. But tone is another story. I’ve tried Fender Tex Mex pickups, a single Dimarzio humbucker, and even, and a pair of Gretsch filtertrons. In the end, I wasn’t playing it because I couldn’t get it to sound the way I wanted it to sound, so it has moved on to a new home.
